Q Station peut se vanter d'un emplacement magnifique et de vues superbes, mais, en tant qu'ancienne station de quarantaine, elle a une histoire très sombre. Construite en 1832 pour mettre en quarantaine les premiers immigrants atteints de maladies, la station a été un lieu d'horreur pour beaucoup et on dit qu'elle est l'un des endroits les plus hantés d'Australie. Près de 600 habitants y sont morts de la scarlatine, de la variole, de la typhoïde, du choléra ou de la grippe espagnole. La zone est populaire parmi les personnes qui espèrent être témoins d'activités paranormales et entendre des histoires de fantômes en se promenant dans l'ancien hôpital, la morgue et les quartiers des médecins et des infirmières, car il existe des visites guidées de fantômes organisées par le personnel de Q Station lui-même. La partie hantée de l'hôtel, où se déroulent ces visites, se trouve toutefois dans un endroit distinct des locaux d'hébergement des clients. Il n'y a donc pas lieu de s'inquiéter si la rencontre avec un fantôme ne fait pas vraiment partie de votre itinéraire.
