Hôtel Historique

Le bâtiment était initialement connu sous le nom de 'Johnny Johnstons Grog Shop' en 1827. Dans les années 1830, le port était une destination populaire parmi les baleiniers et les commerçants épuisés après avoir passé un an en mer. En l'absence de forces de l'ordre et grâce à l'abondance d'alcool bon marché, la prostitution était un travail lucratif et populaire sur le port. Frappé par cette scène tout sauf idéale, Johnny a cherché à changer non seulement l'hôtel mais aussi son environnement. Il changea le nom de l'hôtel en 'The Duke of Marlborough', l'homme le plus riche du monde, pour réintroduire l'élégance et le respect sur le lieu. Au fil des ans, le bâtiment a subi des incendies et des guerres, mais les propriétaires ont constamment reconstruit ses murs.
