Quel est l'histoire de la propriété ?
Perhaps a former coaching inn, perhaps not... What we do know is that Louis-Edmond Antoine le Picard de Phélippeaux (1767 – 1799), a French émigré best known for defeating Napoleon Bonaparte in an effort to defend Egypt did have ties to the Lyon d'Or.
Quelle était l'époque et/ou le style architectural dans lequel la propriété a été construite ?
We do not have the exact history of the buildings, though we have been told that the buildings were built between the 14th and 18th centuries. Thick stone walls, wood beams, terra cotta tile floors.
Le bien est-il entouré d'autres bâtiments historiques ?
The Relais du Lyon d'Or is located in the center of Angles sur l'Anglin, one of the 100 or so "Plus Beaux Villages de France" where you'll also find the ruins of the 11th century castle dominating the Anglin River Valley, the prehistoric site "Roc aux Sorciers" and several other historic sites.
Des travaux de restauration ont-ils eu lieu ?
The majority of the restoration work was undertaken in the 1990s. A few bits have been renovated since.
