Quel est l'histoire de la propriété ?
Masseria Bandino (or BANNINO as reported by ancient maps) was, probably, a grange of the ancient monastery of San Nicola de Casulis as it is testified, still today, by the rural complex of the crypt of San Nicola and by the road connecting the masseria and the monastery.
The history of Bandino is linked to the type of rural habitat of Otranto where, due to the conditions of the territory, exposed to Turkish incursions, the farm and the fortified farm constituted the only productive unit possible.
Its location made it particularly suitable for grazing. The area is, in fact, crossed by a mill run and the farm has four wells that ensure a constant and continuous supply of water. The animals, grazing in the garrigue, produced a delicate milk flavored by local Mediterranean essences. The whole water retention system is still visible, while all the characteristic drinking troughs, the drip trays and the collection ducts have been completely stolen. It has being built on the rocks, it had got a court closed by the main body of the building (vaulted ceilings) and by buildings covered with tiles.
The farm was bought by the De Donno family in the first half of the last century together with the farmhouses "Torre Pinta" and "Le Pezze" located at Badisco.
The ancient farm areas have the characteristic vaulted ceilings. At the center of the ceilings You can find the silos that ensured the constant supply of hay and fodder for animals. The whole place appears as a superposition of buildings of different ages ranging between '600 and' 800.
